If you are visiting the UK or Europe it is better to go to:
www.eurobuners.org and sign up to the appropriate mailing lists - Playadust is the big one and there are several smaller regional ones.
www.goingnowhere.org and check out the forums - Nowhere is the European regional event and there are quite a few people on that forum
Still - email lists are your best bet.

Re: European Burners Don't Use Tribe that Much
Wed, July 22, 2009 - 3:48 AMI agree that the lists are great, but there is something about Tribe that can often encourage conversation. The lists are good for announcements and keeping up with what is going on, but do you think we could have more discussions here? I'm not sure where to start, but I see this as a great place for more in-depth chats and silly banter.
Cheers!

Re: European Burners Don't Use Tribe that Much
Fri, July 24, 2009 - 5:45 AMYes is a great place for more in-depth conversation and personally when it was active I thought it was brilliant.
However...
Most European burners are not on tribe and do not use tribe - and I do not mean don't use it for conversation I mean are not members and probably will not be in large numbers.
This is in part because tribe has always had a very American and even West Coast American presence.
In addition, the lists were up and running before Tribe was around so people were already involved on those lists - and given that most of the other people on the lists were in the same time zone and on the same continent it is much more useful.
I have been living in London for a few years now and I was pretty active on Tribe before I moved over here and I did try to get some more people involved on it, as have other UK/European burners but it just does not take.
The reason I posted about the lists was not to criticise tribe or suggest that people do not use it but more to let people know that if they are posting here the chances of it being seen by someone and being responded to is quite low. I was prompted to do it after logging in and seeing posts about visits to Europe that had already passed.
There are posts on these tribes around the time of London Decom and for announcing ticket sales for Nowhere, the European regional, but other than that it is a rather inactive tribe.
If someone is planning a trip over here and would like to connect with other burners then the lists are the best vehicle for making that happen.
If someone wants to post and start up a conversation and does not mind that responses are few and far between then tribe is probably quite good for that. -

Re: European Burners Don't Use Tribe that Much
Sat, July 25, 2009 - 4:10 AMI completely agree with your assessment Miss. I agree that the lists are probably the best way to get in touch with people, I just want to give Tribe one extra little push in hopes that it can regain its glory. I have met some amazing people from all over the world here and continue to find it is a fantastic resources for the alternative culture. I guess I don't want to see that go away completely...
For the record, I am a member of the lists as well. ;)
Blessings!

Sat, September 26, 2009 - 12:05 PMY'all could suggest Tribe.net to the Euroburners, theres a start....
THeres a LOT of folks to connect with on this site from all over. IT would be especially beneficial to make some pre and post playa connections that you cant make on a private list.
Show em the fort!! Welcome them here!! I want to meet more of you, a week is too short.......I meet so many Euros out there every year, would be nice to see you all play in this virtual community more. :) -
